History of Vicarage Road Stadium
Home to Watford Football Club, Vicarage Road stadium currently seats 22,000 spectators with plans to expand the ground to a 30,000 capacity.
The Vic, as it is affectionately known, has been home to the club since 1922. In 2002, the Watford FC had to sell the stadium due to their financial situation, leading to the supporters’ campaign ‘Let’s buy The Vic back’. Elton John, who previously owned the ground, donated the entire proceedings of a concert to the cause. The club was then able to repurchase the stadium in 2004.
